How our guides are written

Who writes this content

Every guide, answer and cost page on this site is written and maintained by the PetLumen editorial team, the small team that builds PetLumen. Each page carries that byline, and the same credit appears in the structured data search engines read.

No veterinarian reviews this content. We do not employ or contract a veterinarian to check the guides, so you will never see a vet-reviewed badge, a reviewer name or a review date on this site. If you ever find one, it is a mistake and we want to hear about it.

What the content is for

The guides exist to help you decide what to do next: whether something is worth a call, what a visit usually costs, what to write down, and what to bring. They are general information, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for examination by a licensed veterinarian.

Anything urgent is treated as urgent. Pages that touch on emergencies say plainly when to stop reading and go, and they do not ask you to run a scan first.

What sources we use

We write from published veterinary teaching material, professional association guidance, government and poison-control resources, published clinic fee ranges, and peer-reviewed literature where it exists. Where a page states a number, it states it as a general published range for context rather than as a quote.

We do not publish accuracy percentages for the product, because PetLumen has not been clinically validated. Confidence values shown inside the app are reported by the model, not verified outcomes.

We do not maintain a verified directory of clinics, so we do not name individual hospitals, list hours, or publish ratings. Location pages describe how after-hours access works and tell you to confirm by phone.

How pages are kept current

Each page carries the date its own content last changed, and that same date is what we publish in the sitemap and in the page's structured data. We do not stamp pages with a build date to look fresh.

Cost pages are revisited when published fee ranges move. Seasonal and location pages are revisited at least once a year. Product pages change whenever plans, prices or limits change, and the prices on this site come from the same source the pricing page renders, so they cannot disagree.

How we correct errors

Write to support@petlumen.ai with the page address and what is wrong. We aim to answer within two business days.

If something is factually wrong or unsafe, we correct the page directly and bump its content date. If a correction changes the substance of the advice, we say what changed at the top of the page. If a claim cannot be supported, we remove it rather than soften it.

We run automated guards before every release that block unsupported claims, including any wording that suggests veterinary review, clinical validation, an accuracy figure, or a compliance certification we do not hold.

Independence and money

PetLumen is funded by subscriptions and one-off report purchases. Nobody pays to appear in a guide, and no page here is sponsored or affiliate-driven.

When a guide links to our own product, it says so plainly and states what the product does and does not do.
